A defence of ye true history of Ireland, [early 18th century].

Manuscript, in a single hand, of a history of Ireland, "divided into two Books, the first discovering the manner and condition of Ireland from Adam, to the coming of St. Patrick. The second from the coming of St. Patrick to the English conquest and this time." The author, who calls himself "a priest and Doctor in divinity," pays particular attention to the accuracy of his sources, which often contain "malicious and base reports...There's no chronicler or other, that wrote of Ireland since, but mak's itt his chiefst care, and subject, to disprais, and deride, as well ye old English, as ye Irish inhabitants of Ireland, as may be seen by ye relation of Spencer, Stanihurst, Hanmer, Camden, Barckly, Morison and several others." The manuscript concludes with numerous genealogical lists, including "the Genealogie of the Seed of Eimhear," "the Pedigree of Mac Carthy more," and "of the Genealogie and spreading of the Seed of Cormac Cass the 2d. Son of Oiliollolium."
